Description
Our grass fed beef is sure to please! Sizzling steaks, tender beef roast, juicy grilled burgers, beef is definitely what’s for dinner! Our beef is raised on pasture with a new paddock roughly everyday. Allowing the cows to forage on an all grass fed diet results in an omega 6-3 ratio of 3:1, much healthier than the store bought version of 20:1.
A $250 deposit is required to guarantee your beef for delivery at our scheduled harvest time, November 2024. Our bulk beef is sold whole (whole animal) and by the side (half animal). Have limited freezer storage? Your friends too? Go in together and split the beef amongst yourselves.
Our prices are based on pounds of hanging weight, which is the weight of the animal after slaughter and dressing but before it has been cut up (See below “What you actually receive”) The hanging weight of an entire beef can range from under 450 lbs. to over 600 lbs.; assuming a hanging weight of 500 lbs the total costs including processing fees would average as follows:
Total Price
Whole $4.50/lb Avg Cost= $2250
Half $4.50/lb Avg Cost= $1125
Please note that these prices are for a 500 lb hanging weight animal as an example. Your price will be based on the actual weight of the animal your beef comes from.
-
- What you actually receive, the take home or boxed weight, is usually around 65% of hanging weight. This percentage varies depending on the individual animal and how it is butchered.
- What do I get? Based on standard cutting around 20% will be in steaks, 45 to 50% will be ground beef, and the balance will be roasts, stew beef, ribs and other miscellaneous cuts. You can speak to the processor to customize your beef personally. Yields of course will vary depending on the individual animal and how it is cut.
- How much storage space will I need? Your beef will come in “supermarket” sized portions, labeled, and frozen. A whole beef will take up approximately 15 cubic feet of freezer space, a half beef 7.5 cubic feet of freezer space; a quarter beef 3 to 4 cubic feet. An eighth, which takes 2 cubic feet or less, should fit into a standard refrigerator freezer and leave a little room for the ice cream.
- How long will it last? One whole beef will supply a family of 4, eating beef 2 -3 meals per week, with beef meals for about 85 weeks or 1.65 years when enjoying beef 2-3 times per week. Depending on your cuts of beef, a whole beef can supply 150-165 meals. Even more when making bone broth from the beef bones.
