At this time we do not offer shipping. We deliver to several regions throughout the state of West Virginia. Lookout, Summersville, Ansted, Beckley, Oak Hill, Fayetteville, Charleston, Huntington and Lewisburg.
2. Why do you only deliver to WV?
At this time we operate under the WV Poultry Exemption which allows us to process our poultry on our farm, which is preferable for two reasons. Keeping our birds happy and healthy are of utmost importance to us. Transporting them long distances to a USDA certified processing facility stresses them out. 2nd the customer has to pay for the processing at the other facility which increases the cost of the product. Because the poultry are not processed within a USDA certified facility we can only sell within the state of WV.
3. Are your products organic?
We don’t put any value in the term “organic”. There are industrial farms that pay money for the label “organic” and their birds are kept in overcrowded housing never seeing the outdoors, there cows are knee deep in muck manure filled lots. We use sustainable agriculture methods in a permaculture design. We like to think in terms of “beyond organic”!
4. Can we visit your farm?
Absolutely! We offer scheduled farm tours in the late spring, summer, and early fall. We think that transparency is needed to fix the American food system. Contact us at hollie@fifthseasonfarms.com to set up a date! You can also check out our social media pages to see pics and videos of us and the farm.
5. What do you feed your poultry?
Our chickens are pastured everyday, all day, morning and night – as well with access to grass, seeds, bugs, worms, and they are also fed a supplemental non-GMO chicken feed. We purchase our feed from Sunrise Farms.
6. What management practices do you use?
We use sustainable farming practices with permaculture methods. We rotate our animals on fresh pasture almost daily. This makes for a healthier animal that produces a healthier product.
